Doha: US warship, John P. Murtha, arrived at Hamad Port to carry out maintenance during its trip.
The visit, the first to Qatar, is an important step in the growing Qatar-US strategic partnership.
“The USS John P. Murtha arrived at Hamad Port for a Mid-Deployment Voyage Repair—the first ever in Qatar. Yet another step in the growing U.S.-Qatar strategic partnership,” US Embassy in Qatar said on their twitter handle yesterday.
William Grant, Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Qatar had a tour of the warship today.
“Today we toured the USS John P. Murtha at Hamad Port. Our US Sailors and Marines are enjoying Doha. Thanks to Captain Lane and Lieutenant Wiseman for a great tour of this modern ship,” he tweeted.
