Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation, is all set to host the Al Shaqab Equine Education Ramadan Camp, for children aged 3 to 17.
The one-week long camp will be conducted in batches across the entire period of Ramadan, Starting May 4, increasing the opportunity for participation.
Children will be divided into two groups based on their age. Group 1 will accommodate children between the ages of 3 and 7, and will include fun activities such as arts and crafts, pony rides, and lessons on horsemanship. Older children aged 8 to 17 will have lessons on riding, carriage, lunging, handling a bucking horse, and the basics of grooming and feeding.
Two sessions will be held every day, making it more convenient for families and those attending.
The first session will begin at 2.30 pm and will run until 5pm, while the next session will be held from 9pm to 1130pm. Classes will be held from Saturday to Thursday, with students receiving six lessons over the course of the week in which they are enrolled.
An advantage for parents or family members is that they will be able to enjoy light workouts while children are taking part in the camp, with provision having been made for exercising on treadmills and cycles, and also walking within the Al Shaqab Indoor Arena.
Mohammed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Manager, Equine Education Department at Al Shaqab, said: “Horse riding has several significant advantages. It instills in the rider leadership skills as well as the proficiency required in quick decision making and strategic thinking. The Ramadan camp will be a door-opener for many young children who will get a taste of what horse riding has to offer.”
The EED recently gave away certificates in recognition of the achievement of the young students of Renad, member of Qatar Foundation, who had undergone equine therapy sessions, this year.
Al Shaqab is passionately committed to nurturing and promoting Qatar’s renowned equine legacy. Viewing equine education as a vital community asset, the center offers a diverse range of riding lessons, equine training, and equestrian camps, to educate and promote horsemanship.
