Doha: Gulf Contracting thrashed SEPAM (10-0) while Mowasalat trounced Carillion Qatar (6-0) in the third week of the Workers’ Cup Football tournament matches last Friday. In other matches Out Look, ETA Star, Batrne Equipment, Dico-Tech Qatar, Midmac Contracting, Tanzifco Co WLL, Arabian MEP and AALCO Qatar score victories against their rivals.
Matches were played at Al Wakrah Sports Complex and Al Rayyan Spots Club. Building on the successful inaugural tournament in 2013, this year’s Workers’ Cup has expanded from 16 teams to 24, providing an opportunity for more people to participate and enjoy the beautiful game.
The tournament aims to use the power of sport to engage and create positive social change in Qatar. Teams including workers from businesses in various sectors of Qatar’s economy are participating in this year’s tournament.--
Twenty-four Qatar based companies are taking part in the tournament. The teams are divided into six groups consisting of four teams each. The top two from each group will enter in the round of 16, along with the four best third placed teams.
