Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL), in collaboration with the Qatari Forum for Authors, has hosted a lecture, “The Arabic Language: From Linguistic Security to Cultural Security,” recently.

The lecture, led by Dr. Abdelhak Belabed, Associate Professor at Qatar University and a member of the Qatari Forum for Authors, discussed the role the Arabic language plays in promoting the linguistic and cultural security of its speakers.

Commenting on the event, Abeer Al Kuwari, Director of Research and Learning Services at Qatar National Library, said: “We are committed to promoting and preserving the Arabic language at the Library and we do this through several channels, our extensive collection of Arabic books available to the community, our digital resources and through promoting literacy among future generations by supporting Arabic writers and publishers.”  “Promoting the Arabic language and preserving cultural heritage has long been a priority for Qatar, and the Library will continue to support this initiative by driving the development of the Arabic language regionally and globally,” she added.
