Doha: A senior health official has reiterated that COVID-19 vaccination is available at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) by appointment only and for specific groups meeting the priority criteria.
The Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani said that the present stage targets the teaching and administrative staff in schools and emphasised that people should avoid going to the QNCC vaccination centre without an invitation.
“Attending the centre at QNCC is by invitation only. Invitations are sent in a gradual and phased manner to ensure the safety of society and a smooth and effective vaccination process. The targeted groups will receive an SMS invitation to come to the vaccination centre on the dates specified,” he told The Peninsula.
The first phase of COVID-19 vaccination at the QNCC facility began on February 18. The centre is under the supervision and management of the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Hamad Medical Corporation, volunteers from the Qatar Red Crescent Society and the administration of Qatar National Convention Center.
To recall, the MoPH had clarified that what is being circulated on social media about the possibility of obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination for everyone who wishes to go to the vaccination centre at the QNCC is not true.
The Director of the Office of Institutional Project Management at PHCC and Director of the National Campaign for COVID-19 Vaccine Project Dr. Yasmin Ali Morad had said earlier that the protocols for receiving vaccination in the QNCC including that attendance of the vaccine recipient must be according to the time and specified day, and adherence to all measures in order to ensure that the work proceeds smoothly and quickly, noting that the time it takes to receive the vaccine will be less than one hour, since the medical and training staff and the assisting administrative staff have sufficient experience to facilitate the matter to the public.
In case if anyone misses the vaccination appointment or leaves the place for any reason without receiving vaccination, the person will be automatically contacted to obtain a new appointment.
The QNCC vaccination centre was established a part of expanding the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program. The centre has more than 500 individuals work per day from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, to serve about 5,000 to 8,000 people depending on the capacity of the center.
