Doha: DHL Express has announced a new route to its regional air network operation to meet the growing demand for express services connecting Qatar to the rest of the world.

Flights commenced from the company’s Middle East hub in Bahrain on March 3, operating five days a week, into Doha International Airport.

The new service will add significant capacity. The strategic move utilises DHL’s latest Boeing 757 aircraft in a move that will reduce transit time for packages coming in primarily from the USA, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, as well as linking into Qatar Airways’ network which generates further opportunity and additional reach to multiple destinations.

Nael Attiyat, Country Manager for DHL Express in Qatar, said: “The additional flight connecting Doha to the rest of our network is a direct recognition of our dedication to our loyal customers in Qatar and the rest of the world, who will now not only benefit from our significantly increased capacity to transport more shipments in the region, but will also reduce transit time for shipments.”

The move will also see a faster and more reliable connection to Qatar from Central and South American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Panama and the Caribbean.

Malcolm Macbeth VP DHL Aviation for Middle East and Africa, said: “This new connection will significantly improve the service capability and increase the capacity of DHL between our regional hub in Bahrain and Qatar and demonstrates to our customers once again that DHL understands their business and is focused on supporting their trading activities and growth. We are delighted to be working together with Qatar Airways Cargo on developing this important trade lane for the region.”
