Doha: The Ministry of Labour’s statistical bulletin for January showed the employment of about 103 male and female citizens in private sector companies and establishments in various sectors in the State.
The Ministry’s bulletin, which includes the most important statistics and figures of the labour sector and the results of inspection visits to various establishments, indicated that 61 employees were appointed in the financial and insurance sector, 12 in the services and transportation sector, 12 in the industry and energy sector, in addition to seven employees in the real estate and contracting sector, six of them are in private institutions, and five others in the communications and information technology sector.
The bulletin indicated that the Ministry received about 6,702 new recruitment requests, of which 5,767 were approved and 935 were rejected.
The total number of requests to modify the profession reached about 3,188 requests, of which 3,149 were approved and only 39 were rejected.
The number of requests for work permits submitted to the Ministry in January was about 1,776, including 888 requests to renew the permit, 560 requests to issue a new permit, and 327 requests to cancel issued permits.
With regards to inspection visits to recruitment offices, the statistical bulletin showed that the Ministry carried out about 54 inspection visits to recruitment offices, resulted in warning one office.
The Labour Inspection Department conducted 2,664 intensive inspection campaigns in various regions in January to monitor the extent to which establishments comply with the laws and ministerial decisions concerned with regulating the labour market in the country.
The campaigns resulted in the seizure of 417 violations and the banning of 657 establishments.
Concerning labour complaints, the Labour Relations Department received about 2,695 complaints from workers against facility, of which 285 complaints were settled, and 190 were referred, while nearly 2,096 complaints remain under procedure. With regard to the Labour Dispute Settlement Committees, the number of cases referred to these committees in January reached about 633 cases.
The number of the cases settled reached about 265, while about 472 cases remain under procedure.
