Doha,Qatar: The Syrian football team arrived in Doha Sunday ahead of AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
The team will embark on first trainings Sunday at Al-Gharrafa Stadium prior to facing the Malaysian counterpart friendly Monday ahead of the launch of the major tournament.

The Syrian team should maintain their current position if they want to be qualified for the elimination rounds for the first time in the history of AFC cup. The team were ranked 91st in FIFA classification for Dec. 2023 and 68th as the best classification achieved in July 2018, as the team highly count on a distinguished elite of footballers hailing from United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Sweden, and Malysia.
The team are set to confront Uzbekistan on Jan. 13 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, followed by Australia on Jan. 18 at the same stadium and will play the group league by facing India on Jan. 23 at Al-Bayt Stadium.
