Action from the $75,000 FIVB Doha Beach Volleyball Open match at the Qatar Beach Volleyball Academy at Al Gharafa Sports Club in Doha yesterday. Qatar’s top pair Jefferson De Santos and Thiago Santos Pereira lost their first match of Pool A to 32-ranked Betzien-Rudolf pair of Germany 21-19, 21-18. Mahmoud Essam and Asef Sultan, Tamer Abderasool and Abdulaziz Khalouf, besides Ahmed Tijan and Sherif Younis are the three other Qatari teams in the championship. The pool matches will continue today. Two teams will qualify from each of the eight pools for the quarter-final stage which will be held tomorrow. The semi-finals will be held on Saturday morning and the final in the evening. The winning team will share the $11,000 first-place prize. The FIVB comes to Qatar for the first time.
