Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expected that Europe would face a harsh winter due to the gas crisis.
In remarks on Tuesday, Erdogan said that Europe is reaping what it sowed, noting that European sanctions against Russia have prompted Russian President Vladimir Putin to reciprocate and use all available weapons against Europe.
The European governments are racing against time to avoid a disaster in the energy sector in the coming winter in light of the continued reduction of natural gas supplies from Russia, which is about half of Europe's consumption.
On Friday, Gazprom, the Russian company exporting natural gas, announced that it would stop pumping gas through Nord Stream 1, the largest gas pipeline in Europe, for an indefinite period, hours after the G7 put a ceiling on Russian oil prices
