The National Museum of Qatar extended the outdoor exhibition of the 20 historic models until April 9, which is part of the exhibit of the Qatar Auto Museum (QAM) project, it said on Instagram.
The cars are on loan from members of the Qatar Auto Museum advisory board and Qatar’s community of automobile enthusiasts.
QAM Acting Director, Dr. Alkindi Aljawabra earlier told The Peninsula that the outdoor display is the second part of the exhibit. “At the outdoor exhibition, you will be received by the racing culture, next is cars related to Qatar, followed by classic cars. We try to show a very quick preview of what can happen in the future.”
Marivic Padua who’s a car enthusiast said the exhibit is “extraordinary.” “I only see these cars on the Internet and on movies and having to personally see and even check it first hand is a different experience, also it’s a great timing that they extended it especially this Ramadan. My son will definitely enjoy it!.”
Rod Toralba who’s visiting for the first time said: “I’m really fond of racing and classic cars, there’s really a distinction when you see it in person — it even gets more exciting and amusing to look at — thanks to the National Museum of Qatar that we have this kind of opportunity. What I’m really looking forward to is the Qatar Auto Museum, it will be a hit for sure especially to car lovers.”
Meanwhile, the QAM preview is still ongoing until January 20, 2023 featuring three vintage cars which are 1936 Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta, considered the greatest Ferrari ever made and one of the most valuable of all collector cars; 1936 Pontiac Plexiglass Deluxe Six “Ghost Car,” which is the first transparent car built in America; and the 1949 Delahaye 175 S Roadster described as a moving sculpture and one of the most outstanding and grandiose post-war coachbuilt cars in existence.
The said museum displays the concept design which will sit on 30,000sqm at the old building of Doha Exhibition Centre at Al Gassar.
The Qatar Auto Museum brings the country’s car community under one roof and one mission: to drive culture forward and to inspire the next generation of innovators, designers, engineers, collector, and policy makers through shared passion for cars.
It will have a ground and mezzanine floors featuring lounge and galleries which explore the past, present and future of the automobile and its impact on global life and culture; an edutainment centre with sections such as Made in Qatar workshop. The centre will also feature a road and traffic safety lab, an energy and mobility lab, Geekdom Qatar Centre, and a library and kids area.
Also, Garage and Technology Hub, where the restoration of classic cars, customisations and redesign will take place.
