DOHA: QInvest, Qatar’s leading investment bank, as part of efforts to strengthen its team, has announced the appointment of Nasser Abdullah Al Mahmoud as Director with the Investment Banking arm, a press statement said yesterday.

On his appointment, Tamim Hamad Al Kawari, QInvest’s CEO, said: “We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Nasser to our investment banking team. His experience and knowledge will strengthen our capabilities in the investment banking capacity.”

Al Kawari added: “We are very excited about the continuing growth of financial services in the region and abroad; and we look forward to continually work alongside our clients and be their advisor and financier of choice.”

Al Mahmoud said: “I am impressed by QInvest’s brand name as a main player in the regional investment banking industry. I see tremendous potential for the firm in the growing regional banking market. I am excited about my appointment in QInvest and will support the firm’s effort on its remarkable growth path”.

Prior to joining QInvest, Al Mahmoud worked at QNB Capital as Director and was primarily responsible for coverage in Qatar as well as managing debt and project finance deals.

He has previous experience in mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas, with Barclays Capital in London and, additionally, undertook a role with the team covering the MENA Bonds market from London.

Al Mahmoud was the Head of Islamic Corporate Banking at QNB Al Islami and before this he was a Lead Electrical Engineer with Qatar Gas. He has earned BSEE in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University, USA, and a Masters in Project Management from University of Houston, USA.

Al Mahmoud’s appointment complements QInvest’s strategic direction to keep the flow of deal activity across the main lines of business and hence maintain the firm’s league tables ranking.
