Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Public Parks Department has issued a book on public parks encouraging the nature-loving people to visit the parks of their choice.
The book Public Parks was issued at a time when parks attract huge number of visitors due to pleasant weather. The book which provides detailed information about public parks including locations, services, opening hours, and even the number and types of trees and plants.
The book in pdf format is available at official website of the Ministry. “The book ‘Public Parks’ will help you to plan for spending vacations and free times at public parks,” the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has tweeted sharing the link of the book.
The Ministry said that the book includes features of public parks, services and opening hours. Road maps to the parks are also available.
The 538-page book in Arabic was written by Mohamad Ali Al Khori, Director of Public Parks Department and contains a brief history of the development of parks, opening hours in week days and special occasions like holy month of Ramadan. Services available at the parks, names and types of plants and trees, maps for the location and some beautiful pictures are also included in the book.
For example, Al Huwaila Public Park according to the book, is a family park built in 2005 on a stretch of 11,172 sqm at residential area in Doha Municipality. The park opens from 12 noon to 12pm however it opens on Fridays at 8am and during holy month of Ramadan from 1pm to 3am.
Al Huwaila Park has water cooler, car parking area, children’s play areas, basketball court and toilet. The park has special features like shaded play areas for children, basketball court with floodlight and benches with shades for the rest of the visitors. There are 25 types of trees, plants, shrubs and many flower plans like palms trees, Aloe vera, Azadirachta indica etc.
The book includes public parks municipality wise. Doha Municipality has 33 public parks followed by Al Rayan Municipality which is sharing 19 parks.
Al Daayen Municipality has six parks. And there are five parks each in Umm Sala and Al Khor-and-Al Zakhira Municipalities. Al Wakra, Al Shamal and Al Shihaniya municipalities have four, three and two parks respectively.
