Virtual storytelling, art workshop and puppet making — these are some of the free workshops and events the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) is holding for the month of April.
On April 9, it will conduct Family Saturday – Make your own puppet at the Art Workshop of the museum. Enjoy creating a doll from your own imagination.
This workshop offers the opportunity to create a handmade puppet character and enjoy engaging in endearing conversations with it. The event is for families and children aged five above together with their parents.
Also on Family Saturday on April 16, storytelling session will take place at the library entitled “Gergean and the Kangaroo.” Families and children ages 5 to 11 are encouraged to attend. The story is about a young kangaroo named Mahboub who was waiting for his two friends to celebrate Gergean, but they were unable to come for some reason. Join this storytelling session to accompany Mahboub for this special Ramadan tradition.
Virtual storytelling every Monday and Wednesday for the whole month will also take place from 9am to 12pm. Kindergarten to Grade 2 pupils are encouraged to attend where they will explore the underwater world of the dugong in this exciting virtual storytelling session.
The interactive storytelling will talk about the marine mammals known as dugongs and the challenges they face. The story will be followed by games and other fun hands-on activities. Every Thursday of the month, Students Virtual Art Workshop will take place for Grades 1 to 9 pupils where they can draw, paint, and mould in this virtual event. NMoQ online guides will lead them through creative activities inspired by Qatar’s culture and natural environment.
All workshops and storytelling are free to attend, meanwhile, registration is required via NMoQ’s website.
