Doha: During an inspection campaign it was found that Doha municipality has more restaurants and café violating health rules than other municipalities like Al Rayyan.
The health inspectors in Doha and Al Rayyan municipalities closed 22 food facilities completely or partially during the campaign. The closed outlets include restaurants, cafes, grocery stores and bakeries.
The inspection campaign started on January 2 with the closure of a restaurant in Bin Mahmoud and lasted 24 days till January 26 when they closed two restaurants in Abu Samra (Al Rayyan) and Old Al-Ghanim (Doha) for 7 days.
In Doha, the municipal director issued decisions to close 21 food outlets, including the closure of three restaurants in the Bin Mahmoud area - one for 10 days and two for 15 days. They also closed down 3 restaurants in Al Sadd area – first for 15 days, second for 7 days and third for 10 days.
A restaurant in Umm Al-Khaba was closed for 30 days. The closure also happened in Old Al-Ghanim, Mushaireb, Madina Khalifa - South and North, Al Markhiya, Umm Ghwalina, Asiri and Industrial Area.
On the final day of the campaign Doha Municipality close a restaurant in Old Al-Ghanim for 7 days.
The inspection campaigns in Al Rayyan Municipality closed only one restaurant on January 26, when the director of the municipality issued a decision to close a restaurant in Abu Samra for 7 days.
