Doha: The Qatari handball national team tied with Montenegro 23-23 in the second test match held on Thursday in Al Duhail Sports Hall as part of Qatar's preparation for the 28th IHF 2023 World Men's Championship in Poland and Sweden during January 11-29, 2023.
The first half ended with Montenegro leading by 11-10.
The match was the last test for the Qatari team before leaving for Poland on Tuesday. The draw placed the Qatari team in Group E along with Germany, Serbia, and Algeria.
The Qatari team will begin their competition campaign on Friday against Germany on January 13, Algeria on January 15, before concluding their first-round matches against Serbia on January 17.
Qatar is participating in the World Championship for the ninth time in its history after Portugal 2003, Tunisia 2005, Germany 2007, Spain 2013, Qatar 2015, France 2017, Germany and Denmark 2019, Egypt 2021.
The Qatari team finished second in Qatar's edition in 2015, as it was the best result in the history of Qatar's participation in the world championships.
