Completed films from the workshop will be screened during the World Cup celebrations at drive-in cinema at Lusail.
Doha: As the FIFA World Cup is drawing near, the Doha Film Institute (DFI) announced its upcoming Football Filmmaking Challenge where budding filmmakers are invited to join for a workshop.
DFI said in a statement: “This is to create their very own short film about the beautiful game.” The workshop will be from May 21 to June 23. Classes are every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Completed films from this will be screened during the World Cup celebrations at drive-in cinema at Lusail.
The hands-on workshop will be a well-rounded introduction to the essential tools of filmmaking. Through practical and exciting exercises, students will learn all the essential techniques required to make their own short film, starting with the basic elements of narrative development and visual storytelling to the film’s actual production.
The initiative which is in partnership with Qatar Football Association will be run by a dedicated team from Doha Film Institute with expertise across a broad range of filmmaking. Students will work individually on their projects during the workshop and will be given the opportunity to film at famous landmarks throughout Doha.
Interested applicants must submit a brief document telling about oneself and the idea of the film to [email protected] before May 17. Targeted age group is from 18 to 25 years old.
