Doha: The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), through Studio 5, has wrapped up an exciting Winter Camp in January 2025.
Designed for young minds eager to explore the intersection of technology and environmental stewardship, this innovative camp engaged participants across different age groups in hands-on learning about climate issues using cutting-edge AI tools and software.
Spanning three unique sessions, the Winter Camp offered an immersive experience where participants analysed Qatar’s climate data, translated insights into creative outputs, and developed impactful designs to communicate vital climate issues. The sessions provided a stimulating and interactive environment for children and youth to deepen their understanding of AI and climate awareness.
The winter camp included programmes such as AI-Storytelling: Climates Heroes (for ages 7 to 10 years old) on January 12, 13 and 15, 2025 where young participants learned the art of storytelling, guided by AI tools to craft narratives that addressed climate change issues. In addition, they explored 2D software to create personalised storybooks, blending creativity with technology.
There was also AI-Climate Monitoring (For ages 11 to 14 years old) on January 19, 20 and 22, 2025. During the event, participants engaged with PictoBlox to learn coding basics and interact with AI systems. They were also introduced to microcontrollers to collect and analyse real-time weather data, gaining a practical understanding of climate monitoring techniques.
The Climate Data with AI (For ages 15 to 18 years old) was held on January 26, 27 & 29, 2025. This session offered participants the opportunity to delve deeper into climate data collection and analysis using advanced AI software. The data was visualised through graphic tools and transformed into a digital manufacturing prototype using digital fabrication techniques.
