Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) reports released in early December show an increase in birth rates and marriages in the country during the month of October.
Qatari live births and non-Qatari live births grew to 5.3 per cent and 11.1 per cent respectively compared to September this year.
Total live births have been regis-tered at 2,220.Qatar male birth is at 295, female at 278, with a total of 573. While for non-Qatari; male, 853; female, 794, totalling 1,647. More male are being born compared to female, which is only at 2 to 3 per cent difference.
Total population stood at 2,636,078; male at 1,886,323, and female at 749,755. Most of this number came from 25 to 64 age group at 1,948,944; followed by under 15 years old, 393,665; 15 to 24 years old, 255,120; and over 65 years old, 38,349.Meanwhile, comparing October 2021 with October 2020, the total population of Qatar has decreased from 2.72 million to now 2.66 million.
On the other hand, 215 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 28 per cent compared to September 2021. More people also got married during October 2021. An increase of 6.6 per cent in marriage contracts while the total number of divorce cer-tificates decreased by 23.5 percent. The total number of marriage contracts was 387, whereas the total number of divorces reached 163 divorce cases.
Marriage of Qatari husband was at 218, while non-Qatari at 169, totalling 387. And marriage of wife for Qatari, 206, and non-Qatari, 181, with a total of 387. As for the Social Security state-ments, it reached QR76m in October 2021, for 13,788 beneficiaries, recording a monthly decrease of 6.3 percent for the value of Social Security and a monthly decrease of 5 percent for the number of benefi-ciaries of Social Security.
