ALF honours over 100 schools with Tawasoul Award

DOHA: AlFaisal Without Borders Foundation (ALF) has honoured over 100 government and private schools who participated in the programs organised by the Foundation in last academic year 2017-18 in recognition of their roles in the development of the education sector of the country.

Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, the Chairman and Founder of AlFaisal Without Borders Foundation honoured the representatives of the schools in a ceremony of “Tawasoul Award” held at Shangri-La Hotel Doha yesterday.

Addressing the honouring ceremony, Sheikh Faisal lauded the important role of teachers and staff of schools in building future generation of the country.

“We are proud of our government and private schools and universities specially Qatar University on their impressive results,” said Sheikh Faisal. He said that educational institutions of Qatar produced brilliant students like H H the Amir, ministers, directors and officials who protected the country from any impact of unjust blockade.

“Teachers and staffs of schools deserve more than what we honored them in recognizing their great role,” said Sheikh Faisal

He said that the Foundation is working out of social responsibility to provide some valuable thing to the community specially to the youngsters.

“Gathering is also aimed at introducing new programs which are being launched by the Foundation,” Ali Talal Mar’e, Executive Director of the Foundation told The Peninsula on the sidelines of the event.

He said that the Foundation is running a total of six programs like Arabic language, Odyssey of the Mind (wejh wejhatak) and agriculture program.

“Last year Odyssey of the Mind was the pilot program which will be implemented fully for all levels of schools this year,” said Mar’e.

He said that there is another program “Qudrat” about developing skills and capability to discover the hidden talents of the students so they could set their own goals and work on to achieve. “We also run programs for disabled people like hearing and visual impaired to empower them to merge in the society,” siad Mar’e.

He said that the programs offered by the Foundation are completely approved and recognised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. “We organise programs in partnership of the Ministry which informs the school management about the activities of the Foundation,” said Mar’e.

He said that the schools which never been part of our progarm, they can also contact the Foundation for participation and getting more information. He added that last year over 130 schools participated to the programs and other 30 schools were invited to participate this year.

“The Foundation has excellent teams to train the teachers and students. We organised training workshops on engineering, arts, mechanics, robotics and electronic, startups. Over 10,000 students benefited from the programs of the foundation annually,” said Mar’e.
