Landmark Group brands Centrepoint, Max and Home Centre yesterday announced their partnership with Education Above All Foundation (EAA), in support of the foundation’s continued efforts to provide access to quality education to impoverished children amid the ongoing crisis. This year on the 9th of September, the world will come together to mark the first International Day to Protect Education from Attack. This International Day comes at a time where the world is confronted with an unprecedented global health crisis.
Additionally, armed conflicts, forced displacement, climate change induced disasters and protracted crises have disrupted education of 75 million children and youth globally, and that number is growing, accelerating existing inequalities due to COVID-19.
Landmark Group brands in Qatar will commemorate this day and in partnership with EAA Foundation will raise awareness and support for children deprived from pursuing their education.
As a part of this partnership, Centrepoint, Max and Home Centre have joined forces to launch a region-wide in-store donation drive, offering their customers the opportunity to make monetary donations towards the cause.
From August 16 to October 30, corresponding with the Back-to-School season, customers visiting the Centrepoint, Max and Home Centre stores across Qatar can donate any amount of their choice, with all proceeds going to Education Above All Foundation. Speaking about the initiative, Clive Freeman, Chief Operating Officer of Landmark Group Qatar, said, “We are extremely pleased to partner with Education Above All Foundation and support their ongoing mission of supporting children’s education.
“As a Group, we truly recognise the role of Education and its power to transform lives of the younger generation. Now more than ever, we are committed to ensure that the impoverished children who are at a higher risk of not having access to learning opportunities during this challenging time will not be left behind. By working together with EAA Foundation, we hope to bridge that gap and do our part to facilitate equal opportunities for all children,” said Freeman.
Mubarak Al Thani, Communication Manager and Head of Advocacy at EAA Foundation, said: “In these challenging times, the quality education is one of the most important pillars of development of societies and nations, we need to ensure that all the children have equal access to quality education and guarantee every child’s right to education.”
