DOHA: Qatar’s main index gained 155.42 points (1.81 percent) last week to 8,748.68 points. The trading value increased 31.40 percent to QR1.38bn compared to QR1.05bn the previous week.
Trading volumes on the bourse increased 28.21 percent to 38.51 million shares as against 30 million the previous week.
The number of transactions that took place on the Qatar Exchange last week rose 15.42 percent to 17,895 as compared to 15,504 the previous week.
The market capitalisation rose 1.96 percent to QR483.95bn from QR474.66bn the previous week.
The banking and financial services sector led in terms of trading value with a 28.4 percent share in the total. The industrial sector accounted for 26.32 percent. The consumer goods and services sector accounted for 15.11 percent and real estate sector, 14.6 percent.
The real estate sector led in terms of trading volume with a 25.35 percent share in the total. The banking and financial services sector accounted for 21.33 percent. The telecoms sector accounted for 16.49 percent and the industries sector accounted for 14.63 percent.
The banking and the financial services sector led traded number of transactions last week with 24.44 percent of the total, followed by the industrial sector (23.31 percent), the real estate sector (17.72 percent) and the consumer goods and services sector (14.81 percent).
Of the 42 companies listed, 26 ended higher last week, while 12 fell and four remained unchanged. Industries Qatar led traded value last week accounting for 14.16 percent of the total,. Barwa Real Estate accounted for 8.37 percent and Commercial Bank 8.16 percent.
For yesterday, Qatar Exchange ended in the green adding 80.83 points (or 0.93 percent) to advance to 8,748.68 points from 8,667.85 on Wednesday. Among the top gainers were Qatar National Bank which was up 1.71 percent to QR136.50, Industries Qatar rose 1.40 percent to QR173.70, Qatar Navigation gained 1.69 percent to QR66 and Barwa Real Estate was up by 0.21 percent to Q23.46.
The banking and financial sector index was up 0.93 points, the consumer goods and services sector index added 0.46 points, the industrial sector gained 0.94 points while the insurance sector rose 0.88 points.
