DOHA: The Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM) has signed a financing agreement with the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara to sponsor and support the holding of the 14th Al Galayel Tournament for Traditional Hunting 2025.
This agreement reflects DAAM and Qatar Stock Exchange listed companies’ pioneering role in supporting cultural activities and initiative. Under this agreement, DAAM will provide funding to this tournament which is considered as one of the most important cultural events in Qatar, contributing to preserving local heritage. The tournament will kick off at Al Eraiq Reserve today. It will run until February 25, and feature 16 teams competing for the tournament’s banner.
Rarlier, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Al Galayel Tournament for Traditional Hunting Khalid bin Mohammed Al Maadeed said that this year’s edition will be held under the sponsorship of DAAM and Katara’s umbrella.
Al Maadeed said that the tournament is not just about hunting, rather it aims to preserve Qatar’s environment, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 regarding the protection of wildlife and natural habitats. The tournament’s winning team will receive the tournament’s banner and a cash prize of QR1m, while the second and third-place teams will receive QR700,000 and QR500,000, respectively.
Each team qualifying for the finale will also receive QR100,000.
