DOHA: Managing and senior partners from KPMG Middle East and South Asia (MESA) held a meeting here recently to discuss and review their strategy for the fastest growing economies in the region, with special focus on Qatar, a press statement issued by KPMG said yesterday.

MESA Chairman Jamal Fakhro said the high-level meeting held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel would enable the global professional services firm to review its operations in the region, including its strategy for growth and expansion.

“The Middle East and South Asia includes some of the world’s most dynamic growth markets,” said Fakhro, “It’s important KPMG continues to review and enhance its service offering in this important region.”

The quarterly strategy session brought together representatives from Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. This was the first time that the strategy session was held here in Qatar. Fakhro said it was appropriate that Doha was chosen as the venue.

“Qatar is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, which is drawing on some of the world’s leading business people,” said Fakhro, “There is much interest from across the region in what’s happening here.”

On November 21, 2012, over 1,000 KPMG clients, partners and high-level friends of the firm attended a major client reception. Designed to celebrate KPMG’s 35 years of operations in Qatar, the reception was one of the largest professional services events held in the country. Fakhro said it was a pleasure to meet so many local business leaders at the reception and to discuss the aspirations and ambitions of the people of Qatar.

“KPMG is committed to playing its role in supporting these aspirations and in supporting Qatar’s ongoing development,” said he. KPMG Qatar expects to double the size of its practice in the next few years and is leveraging the full strength of its global firm to support its local team and clients.
