Handball: Qatar squad announced for 2023 World Cup

Doha: Qatar Handball Association (QHA) yesterday announced a 23-member squad for the 28th Men’s World Cup to be held in Poland and Sweden from Jan. 11 to 29, 2023.

The Qatari national team was drawn in Group E along with Germany, Serbia and Algeria. The World Cup will see 32 teams taking part.

Qatari qualified for the 2023 World Cup after leading their group at the 20th Asian Cup held in January in Saudi Arabia, which saw Al Annabi being crowned champion for the fifth consecutive time following a 29-24 win over Bahrain in the final.

This will be Qatar's ninth appearance in the World Cup. The players will start their preparations on Aug. 14 under Spanish coach Valero Rivera.
