DOHA: Qatar came up an impressive performance to defeat Kuwait to win the team event at the West Asian Championship for Billiard Games here on Friday.
In the final at the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation (QBSF) Hall, the host team comprising Bashar Hussain and Ali Al Obaidly held its nerve to defeat Kuwait’s Badr Al Al Owadi and Abdulatif Al Yousef (11-6).
There was more glory for the host nation as the Qatar billiards team B, consisting of Abdulatif Al Fawal and Mohammed Saieed, won the bronze medal in the billiard teams event, while Qatar team A, comprising Mohsen Bokshaisha and Mahanna Al Obaidely, got the bronze medal in the snooker team event.
Mohammed Al Ramzani, president of QBSF, and Mohammed Salem Al Nuaimi, QBSF secretary general lauded the winners.
The event saw participation by 60 players from 12 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Oman, Jordan, Kuwait, Palestine, Bahrain and Yemen.
