Caio Canedo celebrates after scoring United Arab Emirates’ first goal against Syria at Stadium 974, yesterday.
Doha: UAE defeated Syria 2-1 in the match that took place at Stadium 974 in Group B of FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, which began today in Doha and will conclude on Dec. 18.
The win takes the UAE to second place in Group B behind Tunisia, which beat Mauritania 5-1 earlier today. Caio Canedo and Ali Saleh scored UAE's goals in the first half. Ward Al Slamh responded with Syria's consolation in the second half.
The second round of the group will start on Friday, when Tunisia will face Syria and the UAE will face Mauritania.
