Doha: Monaco Aces yesterday looked in pristine running condition to secure the team honours in round one of the 2019 Global Champions League (GCL) at the Al Shaqab Arena.
Belgian rider Jos Verlooy, astride Caracas (80.59 seconds), and Brazil’s Marlon Módolo Zanotelli (VDL Edgar, 79.84 seconds) topped the charts finishing the season’s first run more than three seconds ahead of the second-placed Hamburg Giants.
French star Simon Delestre produced a neat routine with Chesall Zimequest (76.91 seconds) while Dutch team mate Bart Bles was a tad slower with ride Israel v/d Dennehoeve (86.40 seconds) as the Hamburg Giants secured the second place.

Scandinavian Vikings (Evelina Tovek, 85.88 seconds and Geir Gulliksen, 82.34 seconds) and New York Empire (Scott Brash, 85.39 seconds and Hans-Dieter, 83.18 seconds) completed the top five teams in GCL opener.
Doha Falcons finished in 13th spot after Qatar’s Bassem Mohammed got stalled with four faults astride Gunder. Bassem’s team mate Dutchman Jur Vrieling (VDL Glasgow vh Merelsnest) exhibited good speed.
