Business and Investment in Qatar Forum to be held in Berlin in April

Doha: The Business and Investment in Qatar Forum is set to be convened this year in Berlin from April 15-16 under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani. German Chancellor Angela Merkel will attend the forum along with senior government officials, decision makers, representatives of the public and private sectors from the Qatari and German sides. The forum is organised by the Foreign Ministry and the Qatari Businessmen Association in cooperation with the Ministry of Business and Trade, the German Industry and Commerce Office, and the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The Foreign Minister’s Assistant for International Cooperation Affairs Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Jabor Al Thani, who heads the permanent committee for conferences, said the forum, which will be held for the seventh year in a row, aims to promote business and investment opportunities in Qatar and shed the light on the country’s achievements on the economic, social, political and cultural fronts, while at the same time provides a platform for Qatari businessmen to meet with their counterparts in Germany.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the Assistant Foreign Minister said the forum’s agenda includes penal discussions on all joint economic sectors between the two countries, adding that the sessions focus on a number of sectors and aspects, including future investments, Qatar National Vision 2030, the industrial sector, infrastructure projects, the energy sector, Qatari-German investments, the financial and banking sectors, small and medium enterprises, in addition to a session on culture, tourism and sports.
