Under the relentless Israeli military onslaught, the Gaza Strip is teetering on the edge of an unprecedented famine. Relief efforts by humanitarian organizations continue to be obstructed, as the Israeli occupation blocks essential aid from reaching the besieged enclave. The complete destruction of healthcare facilities and food supplies has left the population in a state of severe deprivation and desperation. The ongoing war in Gaza has had a catastrophic impact on humanitarian conditions. It has resulted in a tragic loss of life, widespread food and water shortage, the collapse of healthcare systems, deep psychological trauma, and social instability. Humanitarian intervention remains vital to alleviate these suffering and to foster resilience among the Palestinian population. The Palestinian cause has long held a special place in the hearts and minds of the Qatari people, remaining central for over seventy years. This steadfast commitment was once again demonstrated during the recent “Lailat 27” (27th night of Ramadan) fundraising campaign, organized by Qatar Charity and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS). Held over a three-hour live broadcast on Qatar TV, the campaign raised more than QR220 million to support those affected by the crises in Gaza and Syria. The aid will be channeled into providing critical relief, including shelter, food, healthcare, and hygiene supplies. The campaign saw major contributions from generous philanthropists, including a QR30 million donation from one individual, followed by others donating QR20 million and QR10 million, respectively. Qatar TV also hosted officials who highlighted the dire needs of people in Gaza and Syria, while religious scholars called on viewers to offer their support on the spiritually significant night of Ramadan. Qatar has always prioritized the Palestinian cause, offering unwavering political, material, and moral support. This backing stems from a commitment to justice and to the Palestinian people’s rightful struggle for freedom and independence. Qatar continues to advocate for a just and lasting resolution based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, which calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital. Qatar’s solidarity extends beyond Palestine. Over the years, it has also offered consistent humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people, supporting displaced and refugee communities across Syria through extensive relief operations. Moreover, Qatar has firmly rejected any attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause, whether through forced displacement, mass killings, illegal settlement expansion, or imposed solutions that strips Palestinians of their legitimate rights.
