Offering a glimmer of hope after 15 months of devastating war in the Gaza Strip, it was announced that the ceasefire talks have reached the final stages. Qatar along with other mediators Egypt and the United States has been working tirelessly to find a solution to this horrendous war where thousands of civilians including women and children lost their lives and forced millions to flee their homes. At the same time, hospitals and educational institutions were bombed and destroyed and even when the talks were progressing Israeli occupation forces were continuing their bombing in various parts of Palestinian territories. “Ongoing talks in Doha have reached advanced stages, focusing on alleviating the suffering of the people in Gaza and ensuring stability in the region. We remain hopeful that these negotiations will soon lead to a decisive agreement, bringing much-needed relief and peace to all,” Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari said during the weekly media briefing. This is a very positive development and could help bring much-needed assistance to the millions who are suffering in Gaza, who are cut off from the world due to the blockade by the Israeli forces. But until it gets implemented, we will have to wait and hope that the parties will reach an agreement on whatever the pending issues are. "Until there is an announcement... we shouldn't be over-excited about what's happening right now,” Dr. Ansari cautioned while adding "We have reached a point where the major issues that were preventing a deal from happening were addressed." Qatar has been standing in support of the suffering Palestinians by offering all kinds of aid whenever possible and has also been calling for peaceful solutions to the issues so that we can save the lives of the innocents. Qatar through its various bodies has been offering humanitarian support like delivering care to the Palestinian families arriving in Doha ensuring the well-being, safety, and psychological health of the wounded and their families. Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the death toll in the Gaza Strip reached 46,645 people and 110,012 were reported wounded. Reaching an agreement as soon as possible is of great importance as the suffering of the people in Gaza must stop and it will also bring much-needed stability and security to the region.
