Qatar Fuel (Woqod) said yesterday that it has completed installation of long hoses at all its 19 fuel stations across the country.
It means, the motorists are no more required to wait for suitable fuel dispenser for refuelling their cars at any Woqod petrol station regardless of the tank filler cap of their vehicles being fitted to the left or right.
“Vehicle manufactures locate their fuel tank filler cap openings on one side of the vehicle so customers have to choose the correct side of the pump when fuelling," Woqod said in a statement yesterday.
Now, with the longer fuel hoses, motorists can refuel any type of vehicle at any pump, no matter where the fuel filler cap is, said Engineer Ibrahim Al Kuwari, Woqod’s Chief Operating Officer.”
“This will allow our customers to move through our service stations faster and help reduce the waiting time to fuel”, he added.
The move is intended to cut the waiting time of motorists at fuel stations that witness huge crowds due to shortage of fuel stations.
Although Woqod has expanded the service to all its fuel stations, many motorists are still not aware of it and are hesitant to utilise it. Instead of moving to a vacant refuelling slot, they would prefer to wait for their turn in a queue on the side suitable for their vehicle.
“We repeatedly tell motorists to drive to any available pumping machine but only few people actually do that. They might be unaware of the new system”, an employee at a Woqod petrol station told The Peninsula.
To educate motorists about the new system, Woqod has placed a billboard in Arabic and English with a message at the entrances of the petrol stations. The posters read “station providing refuelling from both sides”.
Fuel stations, especially those in Doha downtown, have been witnessing long queues for refuelling during peak hours due to the increasing number of vehicles and closure of many fuel stations for renovation or other development purposes.
