Tokyo: Typhoon Hinnamnor hit the southwestern islands of Japan on Wednesday with winds estimated at 180 kilometers per hour, while meteorologists warned that the typhoon was strong enough to destroy homes and various buildings.
The Japanese Meteorological Agency said that it expect the typhoon to approach the main island of Okinawa and urged people in the area to be careful of strong winds and high waves.
The typhoon likely moved west-southwest at 25 kilometers per hour over the sea, 150 kilometers off the island of Minami Daitojima in Okinawa Prefecture.
Japan witnessed many typhoons, including Typhoon Shantou, which hit central and eastern Japan in 2021, in areas off the Pacific coast, and injured six people.
