Doha, Qatar: The Cultural Village Foundation opened the Qatari Fine Art exhibition at Building 19, Gallery 2 featuring 30 works of art by a group of Qatari artists.
These artists include Ahmed Al Maadeed, Hassan Al Mulla, Wafiqa Sultan, Abdul Rahman Al Mutawa, Jamila Al Shuraim, Iman Al Haidous, Kholoud Al Yafei, Issa Al Mulla, Abdullah Al Mutawa, Maryam Al Mulla, Naila Salem Al Bahr, Al Reem Mohsen Al Athba, Fatima Al Mannai, and Issa Al Maliki.
Katara General Manager, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said that the exhibition is a permanent one wherein a new group of artists will be given the opportunity to present their various works in the gallery. He stressed that the Cultural Village is keen to support artists in presenting their various artistic experiences to the public, based on its work to enrich the Qatari art scene and openness to different artistic generations.
The artists expressed their happiness to participate in the exhibition, as they confirmed that it is a meeting place for all artists from different art schools. Artist Abdullah Al Mutawa said he presented three paintings in the exhibition, and they fall within the cubist school, where he dealt with the Ghaf tree located on the mainland of Qatar.
Artist Maryam Al Mulla expressed her happiness at participating in the exhibition, stressing that it embodies strong support for Qatari artists as it opens up to different schools and various artistic experiences. She said her artistic work sheds light on the image of Qatari women with all the aesthetic, cultural and heritage details associated with them. Her work is part of her approach to work on the idea of characters and their employment as material related to reality.
