Popular rider Nasser Al Ghazali yesterday completed a perfect ride with Colibri 19 to capture the Big Tour honours on the final day of the 10th Round of the Hathab Equestrian Tour,
At the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s Outdoor Arena yesterday, the Qatari rider’s 13-year old gelding completed one round in 73.89 secs, followed by a flawless jump off which he took 36.15 secs to finish. The victory earned him a prize cheque of QR8,750.
Faleh Suwead Al Ajami and his reliable gelding Carport followed with a time of 73.18 secs and a jump off which was completed in of 36.30 as the duo finished second and won QR7,000 in prize money.
Chin Van De Kranenburg, with Hamad Towaim Al Marri in the saddle, came in third after clocking a time of 70.19 secs, but conceded four errors. Al Marri got richer by QR5,250.
Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi (Fiji, 70.60 secs (4) and Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi (Vivaldi K, 71.29 secs (4) rounded up the top five in yesterday’s feature event. They won QR3,500 and QR2,450 respectively.
Earlier, in the Open Class, Saeed Nasser Al Qadi booked the top podium spot with St. Lucia.
Al Qadi and his 17-year-old mare completed three phases in the six-bar competition, followed by another round with four faults to secure the top price of QR3,750.
Inzaghi Van Molenheide, with Rami Younis in the saddle, was the other finalist after completing three phases without any faults, but conceded 16 in the last round. Younis won the second place in the competition which saw 19 entries, and won QR3,000 for his podium finish.
Shiekha Fatima Jabor Al Thani (Eddie) and Mohammad Hazim Abara (Cora), shared the third spot on the podium after two rides which produced similar results. Both of them made no errors in the first two phases, but conceded four faults in the third round. Each of them won QR1,875 in prize money.
After the conclusion of this round, only two more rounds remain in the series which offers a total of QR1mn in overall prize money.
