DOHA: Qatar Exchange (QE) and the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the two sides in the field of education, training and consultation in terms of investment products traded on the Qatari bourse and global financial markets. The partnerhsip is part of QE’s ongoing efforts to promote and strengthen the culture of securities investments among the citizens and expatriates.
The MoU was signed by Rashid bin Ali Al Mansoori, Chief Executive Officer of QE and Dr Hatem Al Qaranshawi, Dean of the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies.
The MoU aims at enhancing mutual cooperation in terms of the development and provision of training programs, education courses and seminars for local investors in order to raise the level of their securities investment knowledge and familiarize them with the most important products offered for trading in the market, along with briefing them on the financial ratios used to analyze the performance of the listed companies and stock price trends.
Al Mansoori described the partnership as a basis for fruitful cooperation with the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies for the purpose of promoting investment awareness among public investors in Qatar and raise the level of efficiency of QE’s dealers in order to enhance liquidity in the market and contribute in supporting the economic growth in the country.
Al-Mansoori stressed on the importance of offering new traded products in QE in order to diversify the investment options before investors and contribute to provide more liquidity in the market.
Dr Hatem Al Qaranshawi, Dean of the QFIS, said: “This agreement comes within the framework of QFIS’s role in achieving Qatar National Vision and as part of QFIS’s commitment to contribute in the community development and economic growth.”
This is the second MoU signed by QE with a Qatari education institution within one month. On December 19th 2012, a similar MoU was signed with the Qatar Finance and Business Academy.
