Three agreements signed at Milipol Qatar

DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday inaugurated Milipol Qatar 2018 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers and high-ranking officials in the State and the country’s guests including ministers and police chiefs from a number of brotherly and friendly countries, as well as Ambassadors accredited to the State and representatives of the exhibiting companies.

Following the opening the ceremony, the Prime Minister and Interior Minister toured the exhibition’s various pavilions and sections, where he was briefed on the latest equipment and devices, and innovative services in the field of homeland security and civil defence. 

Among the visiting ministers from friendly countries were Pakistan’s Minister of State for Interior, Shehryar Khan Afridi; French Deputy Minister of Interior, Laurent Nunez; Algierian Interior Minister, Noureddine Bedoui; Sudan’s Minister of Interior, Ahmed Bilal Osman, and First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rafail Mirzayev; among others. 

The ministers expressed great appreciation for the excellent organization of the Milipol Qatar 2018.

Also, some agreements were signed on the sideline of the event. A Partnership Agreement in Security Training was signed between Lekhwiya, and French National Gendarmerie.

The Ministry of Interior also signed an agreement to exchange information, training, development and entry and exit procedures with its counterpart in Australia on the sidelines of Milipol Qatar 2018.

The Security Systems Department of the Ministry of Interior also signed a cooperation agreement with Milestone Systems, a global leader in security systems, specialized in the development of camera and integration systems.

Organized by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) of the State of Qatar and the French-based Comexposium Security, Milipol Qatar includes five country pavilions – including UK, Germany, Italy, France and North America with 90 exhibitors from Qatar– with a 30% space bigger than in 2016. The total number of exhibitors participating in the event are about 219 exhibitors from 24 countries.

The participating companies showcased latest equipment and devices, and innovative services in the field of homeland security and civil defense. The companies have introduced many products related to internal security and civil defense. Qatari companies have also introduced a number of military products, some of them were manufactured in Qatar.

The exhibition contains many products, weapons, military vehicles, boats and means of civil defense and others.

“One of the most important things presented by Directorate of Information Systems at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) is a smart robot that can identify the places through computer and can walk 12km for 12 hours, and can identify any obstacle that can come in front of it,” said first lieutenant Mohamed Ali Al Mula from the Directorate of Information Systems at MoI.

He also said that the robot can guard the security facilities instead of persons. It is equipped with six cameras that are linked to the main monitoring room. 

Also, there was Humdinga, an amphibious vehicle at the exhibition, which can be used as a boat and a car. It can complete transition between land and water in under 5 seconds. 

Defence specialists from Qatar, France, Turkey, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Spain, Morocco, UK, and USA, as well as 7 new countries that include Greece, India, Latvia, Morocco, Russia, Slovenia and Switzerland will be bringing in their innovations to Qatar.
