The Ministry of Interior has urged people to take more precautionary measures while withdrawing funds from banks.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Interior said in an awareness webinar titled ‘Various Crimes and Ways of Prevention’ that for the safety of the amount withdrawn from the bank, after fund withdrawal, we urge to head directly to the company’s headquarters or the specified location to utilize the money, without stopping on the way to finish any other tasks.”
The educative event was organised in collaboration with the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior.
“It is preferable to use electronic alternatives such as bank transfers or money exchanges. If it is essential to withdraw cash itself, we recommend not to leave these amounts in the vehicle while it is parked somewhere unattended,” said the CID.
During the webinar, the speaker from the CID presented a paper on various functions and services of the department, general awareness tips on security sense, securing the vehicles, precautionary measures to be taken while withdrawing funds from banks and ATMs, securing the houses, companies and residential complexes.
It also discussed the law of photography and filming the government buildings and locations, military, diplomatic and sensitive organizations, etc.
Around 200 people from HR, finance, safety, security, the public and private companies, schools, and the heads and representatives of expat communities attended the event.
Officials have stressed that when withdrawing a huge amount from the bank, people should be vigilant about those around them and try to remember the physical features of these people.
They also cautioned that impersonation of a security man is a crime punishable by law. The CID explained that “people have to ask the person who claims to be from the police while he is not in his uniform, to present his identity card that proves his relationship with the police.”
If he refuses to show his card, people can neglect whatever request from the alleged officer and immediately report to the authorities.
