The Chairman of the Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC) of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Major General Engineer Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ansari, said Qatar has confidence in its national cadres in organising major sporting events.
In the build-up to the World Cup, Qatari officials have participated in major world sports events hosted outside the country and those held in the country.
Speaking to Qatar Radio recently, Major General Al Ansari noted that Qatar has hosted many sports tournaments to increase expertise and acquire more skills. Managing a major event such as the World Cup is not an easy matter, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We have benefited from the experiences and expertise of many countries, and we have confidence in Qatari cadres, as they have gained cumulative experience in organizing major sporting events,” Al Ansari said.
“Organizing an event like the World Cup is not only a security aspect, but there are many other aspects, and therefore all parties in the country must participate in presenting the best edition.”
To benefit from organising this event, Major General Al Ansari said that procedures related to managing the World Cup have to be recorded so they can be used in the future.
“Our ambition is not only hosting such events but also to attract visitors even after the World Cup and to let them know more about Qatar. So, every citizen and resident must be an ambassador to represent Qatar.
“We want to present a tournament that has not been presented before. We are putting in place strategies to ease the entry and exit of visitors as well facilitate movement during their stay in the country,” Al Ansari said.
Concerning the role of volunteers in the World Cup, Al Ansari explained volunteers play a complementary role with tasks within the FIFA classification. He added that the committee is coordinating with companies to provide special security guards.
