DOHA: Afghanistan stunned Pakistan 3-1 while India registered an identical win over hosts Qatar A to move into the semi-finals of the 6-Red Asian Snooker Team Championship here yesterday.
Iran and the UAE also made it to the last-four stage of the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) Championship.
Yesterday, at the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation Hall, Afghanistan set aside the challenge of neighbours Pakistan winning three frames to one.
Muhammad Asif gave Pakistan the lead winning his match against Mohad Reis 69-54.
Afghanistan bounced back as Mohammad Saleh trounced Hamza Akbar 90-0.
In the doubles, Afghanistan won 68-40 to take at 2-1, while Reis clinched the issue for Afghanistan with a win over Akbar 73-12.
In the other quarter-final match, India’s Manan Chandra eased to a 80-19 win over Mohsin Bukshaisha and also won his return match against Ahmed Saif 75-1 to give India s 3-1 win.
In between, India won the doubles match 73-7, while Saif kept managed a 90-14 win over Brijesh Damani. THE PENINSULA
