The hotel sector in Qatar is celebrating Ramadan in style with an array of activities, menus and special promotional offers scheduled to run throughout the Holy Month.

Each year hotels and restaurants in the country come up with a wide range of culinary specialties to bring out a complete Ramadan ambience. This year again the leisure sector of the country is well set to mark the month by fusing traditional cuisine with culinary innovation and world-class hospitality.

Hoteliers said their houses have lined up a host of menus for the season spanning from traditional buffet spreads to an array of signature dishes to tantalise the taste buds with Arabian cuisine.

Saraya Corniche Hotel Doha Director Operations Bryan Patac Tambis said the hotel has always kept the best for the Holy Month of Ramadan to provide a fabulous stay with mouth-watering dishes laid out by culinary experts who have been working round the clock to ensure a refreshing experience for guests during the important time of the year.

He said generally the month of Ramadan is bit quiet in terms of hotel room occupancy. However, the hotels have planned to re-organised its services through renovation in full or part.  He said most of our hotels run Iftar and suhoor promotions for the valued fasting guests. Some organisation does good deeds such us providing meals free during Iftar. Saraya Corniche Hotel offers accommodation with an Arabic themed Iftar buffet. Le Meridien City Center, Doha Interim General Manager Cyril Mouawad said the hotel always offers a unique and memorable stay to guests so that they could experience the spirit of Ramadan. The hotel will celebrate the holy month with specialty Iftar buffets.

The hotel offers a chic and ambient space with live cooking stations in an elegant oriental setting perfect for guests to dine and cherish moments with the family and friends

said. Ramadan in Qatar is no different from other Arab and Islamic countries. However, the country has its own customs and traditions that have been preserved for generations such as Ghabga, a meal partaken at midnight so that people get together over one feast. There are gatherings for the young, old and with women having their own gatherings as well.

Garangao is one of the prevailing Ramadan traditions that has been passed down by generations in Qatar and the Gulf countries that is celebrated on the eve of 15th Ramadan during which families bring sweets and nuts and prepare to receive children who roam the streets of the neighborhood “Freej”, knocking on doors and singing traditional songs, to get their share of sweets and nuts.
