Over the past two years, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has succeeded in achieving many goals related to its Five-Year Strategy 2018-2022, which are largely focused on crime reduction and increasing the percentage of public satisfaction with the services provided by the Ministry.
The strategy has sets its priorities like reduction of crimes, especially crimes which concern the public security, through the development of many projects such as the project of installing security cameras at vital places in the country, a move which has contributed to reducing the crime rate hence making Qatar achieving lowest global crime rate, the MoI said on its official website.
MoI launched its Five-Year Strategy 2018-2022 to enhance the concept of security and stability and sustain the progress pursued by the State in light of the massive developments currently taking place and expected to take place in the future.
Col. Khaled Abdulaziz Al Mohannadi, Assistant Director of the Planning and Quality Department, said that the Ministry’s strategy 2018-2022 is a continuation of the previous Ministry’s strategy and the Ministry achieved successes in all areas during the stages of this strategy.
The Ministry works to achieve its vision and goals that are based on achieving security and stability for a safe society. It helps achieve stability and reduces crime rate and also contributes to implementing justice in a way that ensures confidence in members of the society among police, he added.
Regarding the role of the strategy in preparing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, he pointed out that the main goal of the Ministry’s 2018-2022 strategy is to contribute to securing the hosting of the World Cup, so the ministry has worked to raise the efficiency of its security apparatus and enhance all the capabilities of security personnel to make them able to succeed in securing the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Al Mohannadi said that the Ministry started implementing many training programmes to prepare and equip the Ministry’s staff and prepare them for preparation for this major sporting event.
Meeting the requirements of the overall security and safety sector for 2018-2022, it included 27 programmes and projects for implementation in the coming years. The MoI succeeded in achieving more than 90 percent in its strategy for the period 2011–2016.
