DOHA: The Ministry of the Interior has announced that the exit permit is no more required for those covered under the Labour Law.

It added that the Ministry started from yesterday applying the amendment to Article No. 7 Law No. 21 of 2015 concerning the end of exit permit for migrant workers covered by the Labour Law.

“The Law No. 13 of 2018, which amended certain provisions of the Law No. 21 of 2015 regulating the entry, exit and residency of expatriates is being implemented starting today (Sunday),” the Ministry of Interior said on its official Twitter account.

“The expatriate workers, who are unable to leave the country for any reason, can approach the Expatriate Exit Grievance Committee, which will look into the complaint and take a decision within three working days,” said the Ministry.

Meanwhile, QNA reported that Brigadier Muhammad Rashid Al Mazroui, Director of Airport Passports Department confirmed that the Ministry of the Interior, in the framework of facilitating procedures and facilitating travel through the country’s ports, has started working in the early hours of yesterday to implement the amendment to Article No. 7.

Al Mazroui said that these measures are in implementation of the amendment to the law No. 21 of 2015, stipulating that the workers who are subject to the Labour Law have the right to travel without an exit permit.

The employers have the right to specify five percent of employees who need prior approval before leaving the country due to the nature of their work.

He added that the movement of entry and exit through Hamad International Airport is proceeding normally, where the administration introduced amendments to the system of exit from the country for residents working in companies.

He pointed out that the new amendments to the law enable migrant workers to leave without obtaining a travel permit, except in case the migrant worker is wanted for justice or security authorities.
