The Organising Committee of the Transport Engineering Conference and Exhibition has announced the imminent launch of the activities of the conference, which will be held from October 4 to 6 at The Ritz-Carlton—Doha.
The three-day event will be held by the Qatar Society of Engineers under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC), organisers said in a press conference, yesterday.
Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Affairs at MoTC, Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Society of Engineers, Eng. Khalid bin Ahmed Al Nasr, and representatives of all the official sponsors, attended the press conference.
Eng. Al Nasr spoke about the preparations, stressing that the conference will come out in the best form in terms of organisation and the number of participants in the presentation of scientific papers.
He said that 25 scientific papers were approved for presentation in the conference. The papers highlight new developments in Qatar which have been completed and executed, as well as the announcement of some projects for the next stage.
Eng. Abdulla thanked the Qatar Society of Engineers for the great efforts in organising this pioneering event, which is being held for the first time in the State of Qatar.
He also stressed the keenness of the MoTC to support this type of specialised conference, as it constitutes an appropriate platform and provides an opportunity to exchange experiences and gain knowledge in the fields of transportation engineering and to benefit from the latest technologies and practices followed regionally and internationally.
He said a group of Qatari cadres in the land transport affairs sector at the ministry will present four visual presentations on the sector’s most prominent works.
These presentations include preparing strategic plans and initial designs for road networks, assessment programmes and road network surveys to improve their quality, traffic safety and regulation of land transport work in accordance with the laws and legislations issued in this regard.
Eng. Al Nasr said that the conference will be accompanied by a specialised exhibition in which several governmental, semi-governmental and private sectors will participate to showcase the latest technologies and engineering industries in the field of transportation, especially with regard to the land and air sectors. He said that registration for the conference was open through the QSE official website, and a large number of engineers and specialists were registered to attend this conference.
The press conference was also attended by representatives of all the official sponsors of the event — Ashghal, Q-terminals, Karwa Transportation Company, Mawani Qatar, Qatari Diar, Huawei Technologies LLC, Vodafone Qatar and Q-Auto (Audi).
