Doha: Qatari cueist Bashar Hussein won the billiards 9-Ball title at the GCC Billiards and Snooker Championship, organised by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation at Al Messila Resort.
Bashar victory came after defeating his compatriot Walid Majed, who won the silver medal, in the final match 11-10 after a strong confrontation exceeded two hours. Bashar qualified for the final match after defeating his Kuwaiti rival Ahmed Al Dulaimi 11-10 in the semi-finals, while Walid qualified after defeating the other Kuwaiti Hussein Al Sayafi 11-6.
Bashar expressed his happiness for winning the gold medal in the billiards competition after defeating his compatriot Walid Majed in the final match, noting that the victory came with great difficulty in a confrontation that was full of excitement from its beginning to the end.
“Today’s gold is compensation for the failure in the 10-ball and 8-ball competitions, and it also serves as a strong motivation for me and my colleague Walid Majid before competing in the teams competitions together on Tuesday on the final day of the championship” said Bashar.
Walid Majed, congratulated his colleague Bashar Hussein after winning the billiard 9-ball gold medal, noting that two Qatari players reach the final is the biggest gain regardless winner or loser.
