The security committee of the World Athletics Championship Doha 2019 continues to carry out its role of securing and facilitating the access of participants and fans to the venues.
Assistant Head of the Security Committee of the World Athletics Championship Doha 2019 and the Director of Security of Khalifa International Stadium, Burhan Saleh Al Turki said that the committee along with the participating authorities have succeeded in implementing the plan placed to guarantee the safety of all participants and ensure that traffic is smooth during the competition.
He discussed the implementation of the security plan adopted by the Security Committee of the tournament and said that several security measures have been developed around the stadium to secure it from inside and outside, with the coordination between all units involved in the process.
He added that one of the goals is that the public and the participants do not feel pressured or harassed by any security measures. The operations room was also equipped with advanced tools and a connected network of cameras deployed inside and outside the stadium.
Al Turki said that the security committee also took the appropriate measures to deal with any emergency inside the stadium, noting that the plan covered all potential risks, stressing that the implementation of these measures proved the ability of security services to secure any regional or international sports tournament or competitions in Qatar.
Meanwhile director of Marathon’s security at the committee Said Jomaa Al Hitmi said that the competition represents a great opportunity for Qatari cadres to prove their abilities and up their preparations for the World Cup 2022. He called on the fans to check in advance the times during which Al Corniche will be closed throughout the competition through the media or online. He said that the Corniche for example will be closed Saturday from 7pm to 6am. On Sunday September 29 it will be closed from 7pm to 4am.
He highlighted the global interest in the Doha Marathon, as Qatar became the first country ever to host a midnight marathon for women.
He praised the security team for their efforts in securing the race that included some of the best marathon athletes from around the world.
