The Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has built around 40 parks in various parts of Qatar between 2010 and 2016.

The number of parks in the country increased to 88 in the last six years from 48 in 2010.

The department also planted about 35,479 Sidra trees in various municipalities since 2012 and the work is still in progress, in addition to planting one million lemon trees last year.

It also succeeded in rationalizing water consumption by 50% through the use of modern irrigation technology. Dozens of new plant species have been introduced into the state and it also launched the service “Your seedlings to your home” in order to deliver seedlings to homes.

The Department is also providing several services at public parks in cooperation with the private sector like Internet, various equipment for the people with special needs, surveillance cameras, rubber flooring for the parks, water sensors in the bathrooms, and solar energy chargers. It also activated online sale of seedlings through the website of the Ministry, and holds various workshops for students, in addition to launching the online visit service to the Department’s nurseries on the website of the MoME.
