MoPH, QICDRC sign MoU to implement workplace health programme

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH)  signed a memorandum of understanding with the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) to implement the workplace health programme. 

The memorandum was signed by Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, Director, Public Health Department at MoPH, and Faisal bin Rashid Al Sahouti, CEO, QICDRC, yesterday at the Ministry. 

The workplace health programme is an initiative in line with the objectives of the Qatar Public Health Strategy 2017-2022, which is an executive part of the National Health Strategy 2018-2022 and it aims to enhance the health and well-being of the people of Qatar to protect them from the risks and diseases that threaten them through sixteen major health fields and four pillars.

“The health in workplace programme is part of efforts by the MoPH to promote healthy lifestyles and care for health and safety of workers in various sectors,” said Dr Al Thani.

“The programme mainly aims to prevent and detect lifestyle disorders among the employees. It create more awareness among the employees to adopt a healthy lifestyle. If an employee  present risk factors for lifestyle diseases they will be referred to the Primary Health Care Corporation,” he said. 

The programme is based on an integrated plan that includes needs assessment, developing a work map according to the results in partnership with the beneficiary, implementing activities, and continuously monitoring the evaluation upon completion of the program. The focus of the programme is on how to prevent chronic noncommunicable diseases by encouraging employees to eat healthy food and be physical active inside and outside the workplace. It also raise awareness on how to overcome stress at work place.  Al Sahouti emphasized that signing of MoU with the Ministry comes as a confirmation of  Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre’s  keenness to provide a healthy work environment for its employees. 

“As one of national institutions we are proud take efforts to promote and develop the health sector in the country, and today we share the vision of Ministry of Public Health to provide a healthy work environment for employees in all institutions,” he said. 

Workplace health programme was launched by MoPH in 2014 and it aims to encourage all employees of governmental and semi-governmental institutions to  provide safe and healthy lifestyle for employees. Since its launch the programme is implemented in 13 institutions.
