Doha: Beirut Restaurant which is famous for ‘Humus’ has emerged as landmark eatery where the residents representing all nationalities get together with their relatives, friends and business partners.
“Beirut Restaurant attracted customers from all nationalities including Arab, American, Indian and Pakistan who came for the most famous dish of the restaurant ‘Humus’,” Jihad Shahin (pictured), General Manager of Beirut Restaurant told The Peninsula.
He said that the customers would come to the restaurant for meetings as it emerged as a landmark for them due to its popularity.
“Beirut Restaurant was established in 1959 by a member of Lebanese expatriate community in Qatar,” said Shahin adding that the project began with a small restaurant in Al Kahraba Street, Doha and gradually it was developed as an attractive full-fledged eatery.
“Now Beirut Restaurant is considered a Qatari legacy. Senior citizens visit the restaurant with their children and grandchildren to introduce them the dishes and share their experiences with the restaurant.” He said that old people encourage their children to include the dishes offered by the restaurant in their breakfast menus as they found it healthy and tasty during their years-long experience.
“Many tourists especially transit passengers who land at Hamad International Airport (HIA) ask cab drivers to take them to Beirut Restaurant at first because they have heard a lot of about the restaurant from their friends residing in Qatar,” said Shahin.
He said that at present Beirut Restaurant has two branches operating in Freej bin Mahmoud and Al Gharrafa. “Beirut Restaurant is working on an ambitious plan to expand its business opening many new branches covering all over the country,” said Shahin.
He said that the restaurant received customers especially Qatari citizens from remote areas like Al Shihaniya, Al Aziziya, Al Wakra even far-flung areas from Sealine and Abu Samra.
“The customers demanded to open the branches of Beirut Restaurant in their respective localities as many people became fond of signature cuisine of Beirut Restaurant, for example, Humus dish which they considered necessary to be part of their daily meals. Therefore we wanted to open more branches to cover all areas,” said Shahin.
Disclosing the secret behind the popularity of Beirut Restaurant, Shahin said that the restaurant offers varity of toothsome and healthy dishes at reasonable prices.
