Doha: A Qatari delegation consisting of at least 20 companies will be featured at Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2020, in Italy, which is billed as the world’s biggest international trade show for the beauty industry, Italian Trade Commissioner to Qatar Giosafat Rigano’ said yesterday.
With 52 years of experience, the annual trade fair features all sectors in the beauty industry which is now valued globally at around $532bn. The event, which will be held in Italy from March 12-16 next year, is being organised by the BolognaFiere Group in partnership with Cosmetica Italia, and with the participation of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the Italian Trade Agency.
“The Qatari delegation next year will be the biggest delegation we will have. It will include importers, distributors, and retailers. We will also invite other Qatari companies in the beauty industry, such as Tajmeel,” said Rigano’ while talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a Cosmoprof roadshow held during the Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center (DECC).
Rigano’ added that prominent Qatari businessman Ashraf Abu Issa, Chairman of Abu Issa Holding, will also participate at the trade fair next year, and is also expected to exhibit his own perfume production company.
Speaking during the roadshow event, Abu Issa, who first participated at Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna in 1988 for his perfume and cosmetics company, highlighted the significance of cosmetics and perfume products to the Qatari market. About 60 percent of make-up used worldwide is produced in Italy, added Mattia Miglio, International Marketing Manager of Bologna Fiere Cosmoprof.
Enrico Zannini, General Director of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof, during the event, also invited Qatari businesses to participate at the upcoming trade fair, which will cover a gross area of 200,000sqm.
Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna is considered a trendsetter for the entire beauty industry. The event highlights the most outstanding innovations and solutions as well as the current trends in the beauty sector.
In a statement, Gianpiero Calzolari, President of BolognaFiere Group, said: “Qatar is a country with high GDP per capita. The presence of local brands, importers, distributors, and retailers at Cosmoprof is certainly a strong attraction for many international operators. Italy’s Ambassador to Qatar Pasquale Salzano, added: “Italy is a worldwide leader in the cosmetic industry thanks to its continuous research and developing expertise in the field, yearly presented in Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, the top level Italian beauty trade. The presentation by Cosmoprof in the context of Heya will help bridging Italian and local operators in the growing sector of cosmetics industry”.
To date, Cosmoprof Network consists of over 500,000 beauty professionals from all over the world, and has featured over 10,000 exhibitors from 190 countries. Cosmoprof Network has also recorded a total revenue of $80m in 2018.
